Our Doctors
Gastroenterology Consultants of the North Shore has three physicians to provide you with medical care. Our physicians practice at two locations (Kenilworth, IL and Glenview, IL) have a number of special interests, and come from a wide range of backgrounds.
Each physician has different office hours, insurance participation and separate phone numbers. Please click on the name of each physician to learn more about that physician and their interests.
Dr. Yolandra Johnson is a board certified Gastroenterologist. She practices general gastroenterology with a focus on colon cancer screening. She cares for many patients with irritable bowel syndrome, inflammatory bowel disease and acid reflux disease and has been in practice on the North Shore for more than 20 years. She enjoys getting to know her patients personally and finds that private practice gives her that opportunity. She believes in quality care and forming a collaborative relationship with her patients.
Originally from Maryland, her undergraduate degree (B.A.) is from the University of Virginia and her M.D. was awarded from New York Medical College. She did her training in internal medicine at Yale University and moved to Chicago to complete her fellowship in gastroenterology at the University of Chicago.
She is a senior attending at Evanston and Glenbrook hospitals and is a clinical instructor of medicine at the Pritzker School of Medicine at the University of Chicago. She is also involved with the teaching of gastroenterology fellows. She was awarded the parents council award in medical school for community service and continues to be active in the community through many service organizations. She currently serves on the gastroenterology department’s quality improvement committee and on the executive committee of the hospital’s professional staff.
Her procedures are performed at the Glen Endoscopy Center, Evanston Hospital and Glenbrook Hospital.
Her hobbies include sports, travel and spending quality time with her family.

Dr. James L. Rosenberg is a gastroenterologist with interests in general gastroenterology and special interests in inflammatory bowel disease, colon cancer, and colon polyps. Dr. Rosenberg received his medical degree from Northwestern University Medical School and trained in gastroenterology at the University of Chicago where he has been a faculty member. In the past, he has been Head of the Division of Gastroenterology for the Air Force for the Middle Western and New England States, Head of the Division of Gastroenterology at Evanston Northwestern Healthcare and Head of the Gastroenterology Laboratories at Evanston Northwestern Healthcare. He has been on the scientific advisory board of the Crohn’s Colitis Foundation of America and has been a special honoree of that society. In 2003, he received the Distinguished Achievement Award in Gastroenterology from Evanston Northwestern Healthcare. Dr. Rosenberg was instrumental in the development of the Division of Gastroenterology teaching program at North Shore University Health System and continues to support its growth and development.
The Evanston Hospital Gastroenterology Laboratory has been named in his honor. Currently, he is the Director of Philanthropy for the Division of Gastroenterology, North Shore University Health System. He is board certified in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology. He is a Senior Attending physician at NorthShore University HealthSystem. He sees patients at Evanston Hospital and in his office in Kenilworth, IL..
Dr. Rosenberg has opted out of Medicare and no longer takes Medicare insurance, but welcomes new Medicare patients and continues to evaluate and treat current Medicare patients.

Dr. Jonathan Williams is board certified in Gastroenterology, Hepatology and internal medicine. He practices general Gastroenterology and Hepatology and his interests include colon cancer screening and colon polyps, gastrointestinal reflux disease and Inflammatory Bowel Disease. Dr. Williams performs GI procedures (Colonoscopy and Endoscopy) at Glenbrook Hospital and The Glen Endoscopy Center. His practice is primarily based at Glenbrook Hospital and his office is conveniently located in Glenbrook Hospital’s professional building. He is committed to providing timely and comprehensive care. He believes strongly in patient education and patient participation in their health.
Dr. Williams is very active in the teaching of medical residents as he is an Associate Professor of Medicine at The University Of Chicago School Of Medicine and has been awarded teaching attending of the year several times. Additionally, Dr Williams often gives lectures in the community at various business and community centers. He enjoys is free time running, coaching baseball and spending time with his family.
